CSIR NET Age Limit

CSIR NET JRF Age Limit
The eligibility age for the CSIR NET Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) examination is 30 years. However, there are exemptions in maximum age as applicable to certain categories like SC/ST/PwD/Women/Transgender, etc., which will give the maximum cut-off age to such candidates of 33 years.
CSIR NET LS Age Limit
The candidate will have no age limitation for applying for CSIR NET LS (Lectureship)/Assistant Professor. CSIR NET Educational Qualification
Educational qualification required for CSIR NET is one of the key parameters to determine the eligibility criteria. Therefore, in case a candidate does not possess any required qualifications, his/her candidature would be canceled. So, let’s discuss the educational qualifications for the CSIR NET recruitment process below.
- Eligibility for the Test is available for candidates of General/ Unreserved/ General-EWS who have acquired 55% marks (without rounding off) in a Master’s Degree or equivalent examination from any recognized university/institution. Other Backward Classes (OBC-NCL)/Scheduled Caste (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST)/ Persons with Disability (PwD) Third gender category candidates must have 50% marks (without rounding off) in their Master’s degree or equivalent exam can apply for this test.
- A person pursuing Master’s degree programme or similar aspirants who appeared in final year of qualifying Master’s degree examination and result is awaited, or candidates whose qualification examination has been postponed may also be allowed to appear in this test.
- Aspirants belonging to the third gender category are eligible to avail of the same relaxation in fee, age and eligibility criteria for NET as are available to SC/ST/PwD categories.
- PhD degrees are granted to holders who have completed their master’s degrees prior to 19 September 1991 (irrespective of the date of declaration of result), as valid for them to avail of the 5% relaxation in aggregate marks. Since it is relaxed to take NET with aggregate from 55% to 50%, this becomes available for individuals qualifying on these criteria.
- It is the responsibility of candidates who possess a post-graduate diploma or certificate from an Indian university or institute or a foreign degree, diploma, or certificate from a foreign university or institute to determine the equivalence of their diploma/degree/certificate with that of a recognized Indian master’s degree from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) New Delhi in their own interest.
- The candidates should have completed their school only to four years/8 semesters bachelor degree program. They must also have a minimum percentage of 75 marks in the aggregate, or its equivalent grade on a point scale wherein the grading system is followed. There may be a relaxation of 5% marks or an equivalent grade for SC/ ST/ OBC (non-creamy layer)/ Differently-Abled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS), or other categories.
- Candidates pursuing Four Year/8 Semester Bachelor’s Degree Programme and in their last semester/year can also apply for the test.
- Candidates with a Four-Year Bachelor’s Degree Program are permitted to take any subject in which they want to pursue a Ph.D., regardless of the discipline in which they obtained their four-year bachelor’s degree.
CSIR NET Age Relaxation
There is age relaxation in CSIR NET Upper age limit for candidates of reserved category. This only applies for JRF post. Candidates belonging to OBC-NCL/SC/ST/PwD/Third gender categories and woman applicants are entitled to a relaxation of upto 5 years.
In relation to that, the candidates must fulfill the educational qualification mentioned below in order to qualify for the examination as per the CSIR NET Eligibility:
- The eligibility requirement of having completed the M.Sc. or equivalent degree/Integrated BS-MS/BS-4 years/BE/B. Tech/B. Pharma/MB BS along with a minimum required score of 55% (50% for SC/ST, Third gender, and Persons with Disability candidates) throws away the bag of disambiguation.
- Candidates currently pursuing Master of Science or final-year graduate students are also eligible to operate under CSIR NET for Result Awaited (RA) category for those students who complete the degree within the next two years and level the required scores.
- SC/ST and PWD candidates must have a minimum of 50% marks in M.Sc. or equivalent degree / Integrated BS-MS / BS-4 years / BE / B. Tech / B. Pharma / MBBS.
- Qualified candidates also include those with B.Sc. (Hons.) or an equivalent degree or presently pursuing their Integrated MS-Ph. D programme with at least 55 percent marks (50 per cent for SC/ST/PWD) to appear in the examination.
- Bachelor’s degree holders are eligible for the fellowship if they register/enrol in a Ph.D/Integrated Ph.D. programme within two years after receiving their bachelor’s degree.
- Only those candidates whose Masters degree was obtained before 19 September 1991 and secured at least 50% can be considered for Lectureship.
- Candidates would be disqualified from applying for the lectureship as disqualified from being considered for such positions on just a bachelor’s degree.
